Migraines, Rebound Headaches and You.
I had an undiagnosed problem with migraine headaches for years. My diagnosis was difficult because my issue was complicated. As a result of the migraine headaches, I developed a habit of taking too much headache medicine. My overreliance on headache medicine caused me to develop rebound headaches, a syndrome where the medicine starts contributing to the intensity and frequency of the headaches. In order to diagnose my underlying migraine problem, my doctor instructed me to stop taking any and all headache medicine for a period of six months. That was very difficult. Once I had taken that step, however, the rebound headaches resolved. Finally, my doctor was able to diagnose and treat the underlying condition. I am a much happier man today.
