Cigar store with emblem in old times
In the medieval times, the bigger part of the population was illiterate and during that period the emblems which were descriptive in their own sense, were used as an indicator before the cigar store which depicts that the smoking tobacco was available there. The tobacco was associated with the American Indians because the European had got the taste of tobacco from them and that was why the advertising figure of the Red Indian was shown out of the cigar store which was selling the tobacco. These idols of Red Indians were carved in the way as a black slave with feathers was attached with them. That was so because till that time the European didn’t see the American Indians.
